N450m worth of goods lost to fire at Erisco Foods warehouse in Lagos

About N450m worth of goods was estimated to have been lost to a fire incident that gutted Erisco Foods Ltd warehouse in Lagos on Monday, according to the company’s General Manager, Mr. Tokunbo Agbede.

Agbede revealed on Tuesday that the Nigerian Police and the Lagos State Fire Service have begun investigations in earnest to ascertain what led to the fire outbreak which happened about 6a.m. at the Eleganza warehouse of the company.

“The fire is a colossal loss to the company at a time when we are trying to wind down production in Nigeria,” he said.

“The destruction of our raw materials will not have been much if government agencies had supported us with foreign exchange and favourable business environment.

“As it, most of the raw materials were destroyed because they were lying in the warehouse unused with other tomato paste that have yet to be sold.”
