Canal+ completes MultiChoice integration, says CEO

Canal+ Africa Chief Executive Officer, David Mignot, has announced that MultiChoice is now fully integrated into the Canal+ Group, marking the completion of the French media company’s acquisition of the pay-TV broadcaster.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Mignot described the development as a major milestone for MultiChoice, saying the company has officially become part of the Canal+ Group.
He said the integration places the South African broadcaster within a global media organisation with operations in about 70 countries, creating new opportunities for growth and collaboration.
According to Mignot, MultiChoice will benefit from Canal+’s international experience, technical expertise and broader resources, which are expected to strengthen its operations across Africa. He added that the move also reflects Canal+’s long-term commitment to expanding its presence on the continent.
MultiChoice, which owns the DStv and GOtv platforms, serves millions of subscribers across sub-Saharan Africa with television programming that includes sports, entertainment and news.
The integration follows Canal+’s successful takeover of MultiChoice after an extended acquisition process. The merger brings together Canal+‘s international television business and MultiChoice’s strong presence in more than 50 African markets.
Industry observers expect the deal to strengthen Canal+‘s position in Africa’s media sector at a time when competition among pay-TV providers and streaming platforms is increasing, with greater investment in local productions, digital services and sports broadcasting.
