Mother, daughter reunite 82 years after forced separation
Lena Pierce was forced to give up her 6-month-old daughter after state officials concluded she was too young to raise the child, CNN reports.
She was 14 at the time. The time was 1933.
Pierce only saw her daughter, Betty Morrell, again in January 2016 in the lobby of an Airport in New York after connecting via a genealogical website.
Pierce is now 96 years old while her daughter is 82. And they were ever so relieved to be reunited after such a long time.
“There was a lot of times I worried about her and wondered where she was,” Pierce who went on to marry twice and have seven children said.
“Im not alone anymore, I have my mother, and I have sisters and brothers. It’s surreal but so wonderful to be together again after all this time,” Morrell said.
