Minister Festus Keyamo Directs Aviation Agencies to Investigate Air Peace – Oshiomhole Incident

Festus Keyamo, Minister of aviation and aerospace development, has directed aviation agencies to investigate the incident involving Air Peace and Senator Adams Oshiomhole at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

The dispute erupted after the airline accused Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North in the Senate, of disrupting its operations upon missing a scheduled flight. In videos circulating on X, the lawmaker was seen confronting an official and later sitting at a departure gate.

In response, Oshiomhole denied causing any disruption, claiming he was standing against alleged misconduct by the airline. “The airline asked passengers who had checked-in online to pay extra money before boarding,” he alleged.

Air Peace, however, dismissed the accusation as false, stating: “No passenger was asked to pay money after the closure of check-in.”

Addressing the development on Friday via X, Keyamo said: “In the wake of the incident at the Lagos Airport last Wednesday involving AIRPEACE Airline and His Excellency, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, I have been in direct contact with both parties since that morning.”

He appealed for calm, urging both sides to “halt the public accusations and counter-accusations.”

“I am further directing the relevant aviation agencies to thoroughly look into the issue, collect all available evidence and revert to my office so we can deal with the issue in such a way as to guide future conducts in similar situations,” he said.

Keyamo also advised against hasty conclusions, citing the need to “listen to all parties before reaching a judgement.”
