Man who stole spaghetti gets 7 year jail sentence
Actually he stole lots of spaghetti.
A Lagos High Court has sentenced one Sayyu Aliyu Zakari to seven years imprisonment for stealing 9000 cartons of Dangote spaghetti.
The spaghetti is worth a little over N9million.
Zakari was arraigned on a three-count charge of stealing and issuing a dud cheque through his company, Alrander limited to Dangote company.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Zakari had on September 11, 2012, knowingly and fraudulently, issued a Fidelity Bank Plc cheque for the sum of N9,180,000 aimed at purchasing the food products.
Zakari got a five-year-jail term for count one and two years for count two and three. The prison terms are to run concurrently from February 9, 2016.
His company, Alrander limited, is to pay a fine of N1 million..
