Man sent to prison for breaking up with pregnant girlfriend

…well, he was SENT to prison, NOT sentenced to jail, because the judge refused to grant him bail.

Gimba Emen, 28, is accused of jilting Jessica Ibrahim after promising to marry her.

Gimba allegedly approached Jessica on January 4 and told her all the sweet things that drive girls crazy,  prosecutor Samuel Okoro told a court in Maraba, Abuja, on Friday.

Jessica said “Yes!” but the couple was never legally married before they started living together.

“The accused cohabited with Jessica and had sexual intercourse with her which resulted into pregnancy.

“He drove her out of the house without providing for her needs,’’ Okoro told the court.

At about 11:30 a.m. on August 4, Jessica reported the “heart-breaker” to policemen at the Sani Abacha Road Police Station, Mararaba.

Gimba was arrested. He was arraigned in court on Friday. He pleaded not guilty.

The judge, however, thinks Gimba is only trying to shy away from responsibility. He ordered that the accused be remanded in Keffi Prison until August 17 when the case will be re-visited.
