Man murders, buries business associate in Delta

There are widespread reports of police extortion in Nigeria.

The body of Lawrence Okoh, father of twins, was discovered in Warri days after being murdered and buried by his associate businessman, identified only as Ogbaire.

The deceased, a spare part seller had reportedly left his Port Harcourt business outfit on the 2nd of August,to supply generator  parts to a customer in Warri, after informing his wife earlier that he was going to spend the night with that same customer in Warri.

However, as days passed and his wife was unable to reach him on phone, she reportedly contacted the customer, who claimed that  he had not seen the deceased for over a period of time.

The deceased’s wife reported the matter to the Delta State Police Command and the police declared him missing. After searching the spare parts market in Warri where the wife was able to identify some of the parts her husband left home with the day he travelled.

Celestina Kalu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO,  while confirming the report to newsmen on Thursday, said the shop owner, where the parts were found, took the police to the person who supplied them and the suspect turned out to be Ogbaire, who had earlier denied seeing the deceased.

After series of interrogation, Ogbaire later confessed to the police that he murdered Okoh and buried him in a shallow grave in an uncompleted building in order not to pay  for the spare parts the deceased supplied him.
The suspect was later arrested, after taking the police to the shallow grave where the victim was buried. He also confessed that he would kill a supplier so as to get away with paying for the supplied parts.

As at now, Okoh’s decomposing body has been exhumed and released to his family in Ubulu- Uku for burial.
