Man, 28, sells niece, 3, for N150,000 in Rivers
A 28-year-old man has landed himself in police net for selling his a 3-year-old girl in Rivers State.
Godspower Emeka sold his 3-year-old niece, identified as Mercy Emeka, to one Kelvin Ogbunigwu, 35, for the sum of N150,000.
Emeka confessed to the crime, but said he was forced to sell the child because the responsibility of feeding eleven children became too much of a task.
“So when one of my friends Ogbunigwu came and told me that there is someone who would buy the baby I sold her to him,” he told police at the Obehie division in Abia.
Emeka blamed the devil for his actions and pleaded for forgiveness.
The baby had been recovered and handed over to her mother – who is Emeka’s sister.
