Man, 28, arrested for attempting to kidnap four-year-old girl in church
A 28-year-old man, Mr. Jacob Dare, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to abduct a four-year-old girl, Emmanuela Rufus, during a church service.
The incident happened on July 19th 2018, at Christ Anointed Church, Ayobo, Lagos, where the 4-year old victim attended church with her parents, P.M.express reports.
According to the police, Dare who is not a member of the church attempted to entice Emmanuela Rufus with a N50 gift.
However, his attempts were futile, then he pretended to be insane but was arrested and detained by the police.
The police said that during investigation, Dare discovered that his trick of feigning insanity was not working. He then changed and claimed that he went to the church to worship and was only asking the little girl and her mother which direction to go after the service.
However, the police did not accept his claims.
The police said that Mr. Dare was arrested after the father of the victim, Mr. Ebhobogbe Rufus, reported to the police that the suspect wanted to kidnap his 4-year old child in the church.
He said that during an investigation, the police found him culpable and he will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The suspect was among the over 50 suspected criminals paraded by the police at the Command on Monday.
