Mad rush kills 14 people, injure others at APC rally in Port Harcourt
A stampede that broke out at the end of the All Progressive Congress rally in Port Harcourt has led to the death of 14 people, with many others injured.
The incident occurred at the gate of Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium as the crowd attempted to leave the campaign venue.
President Buhari who had just finished speaking at the rally had left with his entourage when the crowd crashed into each other on their way out. This action led to many casualties.
The spokesperson of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Kem Daniel-Elebiga said that 14 dead bodies were brought to the hospital from the stadium.
Police report indicates that four persons were confirmed dead at the scene, with another four taken to the hospital.
President Buhari has expressed sadness over the loss of life.
