London terror UPDATE: 5 confirmed dead, 40 injured in Westminster attack

Five people have died and more than 40 have been injured after a knifeman rained terror on Westminster.
Police officer Keith Palmer, 48, was among those killed, Scotland Yard’s anti-terror officer Mark Rowley confirmed.
Palmer, a husband and father, was a member of the force’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Command and had 15 years’ service.
“He was someone who left for work today expecting to return home at the end of hi shift and had every right to expect that would happen,” Rowley said.
The attacker was shot after bringing terror to the streets near the Houses of Parliament in Westminster.

Armed with two large knives, he mowed down pedestrians with his car on Westminster Bridge.
A group of French schoolchildren were among those targeted on the bridge. A woman ended up in the Thames and was treated for serious injuries after being pulled from the water.
After wrecking havoc on the bridge, the attacker rushed at the gates in front of the Houses of Parliament, fatally stabbing Officer Palmer.
Another police officer shot the attacker dead moments later.
Prime Minister Theresa May praised the bravery of police officers and said any attempt to defeat the values Parliament stands for was “doomed to failure”.
