LEAH takes cancer treatment to 4,000 Female Civil Servants In Kwara State
LEAH Foundation in partnership with Kwara State Government flagged of free health check and cancer screening for 4,000 female civil servants in the state.The Head, LEAH Health Initiative, Dr Ayo Adesokan noted that the beneficiaries would be screened for breast and cervical cancer as well as Hepatitis B.
“Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in Nigeria, killing over 25,000 women annually. Medical checkups create opportunities for early detection of ailments and prompt initiation of treatment.” he said.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr (Mrs) Ayinke Saka revealed during her meeting with journalists yesterday 21st september.
“The screening exercise will be of immense benefit to the female civil servants in the state. The screening will be extended to other women and men in subsequent phases of the project”, she said.
