Lagos Slashes Blue Line Train Fare by 50% for Anniversary Celebration

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a one-day, 50 percent discount on fares for passengers using the Lagos Blue Line rail service on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The gesture is part of activities marking the second anniversary of the metro service, which began commercial operations in September 2023, connecting Marina to Mile 2.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the Blue Line has transported more than five million passengers in the past two years without recording a single accident.

“Trains now run every ten minutes, making over 90 trips daily,” he said in a statement issued on Wednesday. “Journeys that once took much longer have become faster and easier. These achievements show what we can accomplish when we work with dedication and purpose.”

“Our journey is far from over. Step by step, we are creating the Lagos we all desire—one where moving around is easier, safer, and faster,” Sanwo-Olu added.
