Lagos Shuts Down RCCG, Celestial Church, Businesses Over Noise Pollution Offences
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut down several churches, businesses, and hotels across Lagos State for violating environmental regulations.
The statement was shared by Tokunbo Wahab, Lagos State Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, on Wednesday, September 25, via his X account.”
Among the sealed establishments are the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Celestial Church of God, Vital Products Limited, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites.
The enforcement operation, which targeted areas including Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland, forms part of LASEPA’s ongoing efforts to curb noise pollution and enforce environmental compliance.
According to LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the sealed businesses and religious centers had ignored previous warnings from the agency.
“We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations,” Dr. Ajayi said. “All businesses must recognize their environmental responsibilities and work with the state government to achieve a cleaner, more sustainable Lagos.”
Other affected businesses include A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, Evening Class Guest House, Charley’s Bar, and Terrag Inn Apartment.
Additionally, a printing press was among the establishments closed for environmental infractions.

LASEPA reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on environmental breaches, stressing the need for cooperation from businesses and religious centers in ensuring adherence to laws designed to protect public health.
Dr. Ajayi concluded by emphasizing, “We are committed to ensuring a livable environment for all Lagosians, and non-compliance will continue to be met with decisive action.”
