Lady arrested for allegedly stealing 7-month-old baby in Rivers

A 7-month-old baby that was allegedly stolen on Monday at No. 77 Akwuzo street, Mile 1 Diobu, Port-Harcourt, Rivers state has been recovered through a manhunt.

The baby was allegedly stolen by an unnamed lady.

Reports by a community group, Better Rivers, said a manhunt led to the recovery of the baby in the evening.

The statement says: “Following our earlier report of a missing seven months old baby boy that was taken away from No 77 Akwuzo street, Mile 1 Diobu at about 9.45am today.

“We swung into action immediately by activating all our contacts across Rivers State into an urgent search with the only information at hand being the lady who took away the baby’s phone number.

The report said the number was gotten from a person who the suspect had called the phone with earlier.

“We put a call through to the number but to no avail, at that point it became worrisome and we instructed that matter should be indented with the police, while we applied available technology and software at our disposal.

The tracking eventually paid off as they were able to locate the girl’s phone.

“We were able to get the woman and the missing 7 months old baby back around Eleme junction and we took them to the Government House Security just to avoid the lady being lynched to death if we took her to Diobu.

“After reporting the incident a call was put to Mile one police station and the matter handed over to them for further investigation”.
