Kogi governor pledges N5,000 monthly allowance for Youth Corps members

The Kogi State government has reportedly pledged a monthly allowance of N5,000 for all Youth Corps members serving in the state.

The development was made known by Gbenga Olorunpomi, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on Monday.

Olorunpomi said Bello made the pledge while on a visit to the Asaya NYSC Orientation Camp, Kabba, during the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2018 Batch B corps members.

He said the governor also promised Youth Corps members posted to the state N10,000 each for transport fare.

Bello was said to have also announced a personal donation of N5m to the family of an NYSC Director who died on Sunday night.

The N10,000, according to Olorunpomi, is a one-time lump sum payment, while the N5,000 will be on a monthly basis for the entire service year.
