Kidnappers free school owner after cutting his fingers, receiving N5 million ransom

Reportedly furious that they were paid a “meager” N5 million of the N70 million they demanded, kidnappers chopped off their victim’s fingers before releasing the man to his family.

Idongesit Udom, the victim in question, was held captive for 31 days after being abducted in Akwa Ibom on April 9.

Kidnappers demanded 70 million from the retired Exxon-Mobil worker who now runs a school (Sure Foundation Polytechnic) in Ukanafun local government area in the state.

But the family was able to raise N5 million.

“The kidnappers were angry when N5m was paid to them,” a source reportedly said.

“They told the family contact that the N5m was for the victim’s welfare. Maybe because they could not get more money, they decided to chop off one of his fingers,” the source said.
