Kidnapped former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bagudu Hearse regains freedom

Former Minister of State (Foreign Affairs), Mr Bagudu Hirse who was kidnapped on Sunday, November 20, has been released by his abductors after nearly a week in captivity.

Bagudu was abducted by unknown gunmen at the Kaduna residence of Ambassador Mamman Daura following a condolence visit to the family of late Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki.

According to his brother, Mr John Hirse, the former minister has regained his freedom.

“Bagudu was released in the early hours of Saturday,” John, retired permanent secretary in the federal civil service and currently District Head of Mangu, in Plateau, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Jos on Saturday.

John, who did not give further details on the conditions surrounding Bagudu’s release, simply said that his brother was “hale and hearty”, while he thanked Nigerians for the prayers and words of encouragement “during the trying period.”

“May God reward everyone who stood by us during the tough period,” he said.
