Kemi Olunloyo: Blogger disgraced in prison uniform for criticizing Nigerian pastor

Trouble-making Nigerian blogger Kemi Olunloyo is in trouble.

She was arrested few weeks back after allegedly making defamatory comments against Port Harcourt based pastor, David Ibiyomie.

Olunloyo’s status as daughter to a former Oyo state governor couldn’t save her from the pastor’s apparent vengeance.

Touch not my anointed: Olunloyo allegedly defamed Pastor Ibiyomie.

It was initially thought she was arrested for accusing former president Olusegun Obasanjo and her own dad of murder.

The blogger was picked up in Ibadan and is now being locked up in Port Harcourt Prison.

A Magistrate Court had granted her bail which was revoked by the Federal High Court.

Kemi Olunloyo was brought to court on Thursday in prison uniform, a move many say was made to disgrace her. It’s not clear if the blogger requested to be treated this way.

Although there’s nothing wrong in suspects donning prison uniform while appearing in court, such occurrence is rare in Nigeria. And rare, especially in cases that are not that serious.

Wait…is Olunloyo’s case serious?

The controversial blogger was arraigned alongside Port Harcourt based publisher Samuel Walson.

They were handcuffed together.

The court granted them bail and adjourned the case to May 4 for further hearing.
