Kano: Flood kills three persons, washes away cash crops worth millions of naira
It was a sad Sunday for residents of Hayin Gwarmi village in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State as three persons were killed in a flood following a heavy downpour.
A result of heavy downpour, the flood also washed away cash crops worth millions of Naira, the local government chairman, Alhaji Mudansiru Bebeji, told newsmen on Monday.
A number of houses were also destroyed in the disaster.
The chairman said he had paid a sympathy visit to those affected by the disaster. He however asked for the intervention of the federal and state governments.
“We are calling on the Federal and Kano State governments to assist the victims to reduce their sufferings,” he said.
The Director, Operations, Kano State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (SERERA), Alhaji Abdullahi Dambatta, said the agency had not received any official report on the incident from the local government council..
