Justina Anochie: “Friends kidnap Babcock graduate, demand N10 million”
A fresh Nigerian graduate has gone missing in a kidnapping case suspected to be have been executed with help from some of her friends.
Justina Anochie, a Nursing graduate of the Babcock University, Ogun State, was reportedly “taken” on Sunday.
The case was reported to the police who said they’ve arrested a female undergraduate of a university in Lagos in connection with the case.
Justina’s abductors, on Thursday, called her family demanding for N10 million before they would let her go.
“Initially, we thought it was a joke until the kidnappers contacted us and demanded N10m as ransom,” Justina’s sister, Mrs. Judith Nze, told Punch.
“They later reduced it to N5 million. They have refused the N300,000 we offered them, insisting that they would kill her if we don’t pay the money.
“They also said we must withdraw the case from the police as a condition for her release. My mother spoke with her this morning (Thursday) and she did not sound good. We are afraid they might harm her.
“We are just appealing to them to release her,” she said.
Babcock suggested people shouldn’t expect them to join in efforts to rescue Justina because “she’s no longer our student.”
Reportedly speaking on behalf of the school, Joshua Suleiman, was quoted to have said:
“She (Justina) graduated from the school in June. She is no more our student. We got the information just like you did that she was abducted. We don’t know beyond that.”
Justina Anochie, 27, graduated from Babcock University in June 2016 after completing her nursing course the month before.
She was reportedly abducted at her Ilishan around 9pm on Sunday..
