Just in: Fire razes popular Panteka market Kaduna
The popular Panteka market in Tudunwada was gutted by fire at the early hours of this morning.
The market has been target of political uprisings in the past; sometime in 2012, there was an explosion which led to a fire outbreak destroying many shops.
The fire started at about midnight, according to eye witnesses. The witnesses say it may have been ignited by electric malfunction.
Some witnesses claimed the fire could have been wild fire that comes with the harmattan season; but a trader whose shop was razed believes it’s sabotage.
Traders at the market are now counting their losses estimated at millions, if not billions of Naira.
According to online report, Governor El Rufai has visited the market this morning
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained
