Italian man arrested for “killing wife, daughter” in Lagos
An Italian man, Peter Nielsen, has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and daughter at their Ocean Parade, Banana Island residence.
Nielsen’s wife, Zainab Ali-Nielsen, was a rising Nigerian artiste popularly known as Alizee.
It is still unclear what led to the murder of mother and child, allegedly by Nielsen, in the early hours of Thursday.
The bodies of both victims have been deposited for autopsy.
Police spokesperson Chike Oti confirmed Nielsen’s arrest, saying a crime scene investigative team had been deployed in the house.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, has ordered the arrest of the suspect and he is in police custody,” he said.
“It is pre-emptive now to ascertain the cause of the incident. The CP has dispatched crime scene investigators to the place to pick evidences for analysis which can be used for prosecution.
“The command has also written the Embassy of the suspect that the police are investigating the case.”
