Italian Journalist, Sala’s Arrest, Confirmed by Iran

Italian Journalist, Cecilia Sala

Iran has confirmed the arrest of Italian Journalist, Cecilia Sala, Nesuroom have gathered.

The confirmation was made by the culture ministry on Monday.

The Journalist is reported to have violated the law, the Arab country claim.

The arrest has not gone down wel in Italy, with the European nation frowning at the development.

According to Iranian media, IRNA news agency, “Cecilia Sala, an Italian citizen, travelled to Iran on 13 December 2024 with a journalist visa and was arrested on 19 December 2024 for violating the law of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

The Ministry which is in charge of accrediting journalists in the country revealed that matter is still being investigated.

Sala is said to have moved to Iran on a journalist visa from Rome Italy.

She was due back to her country on December 20th before the arrest happened.

Italy say the Journalist is being remanded in the Evin prison in Tehran.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, on Saturday, revealed that attaempts to free Sala could prove difficult.

Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, says Italy are following the situation with hope of a resolution.
