Islamic cleric murders co-tenant over N60 electrical fuse bill
An Islamic cleric has allegedly killed a co-tenant after hitting him with a stick on the head over N60 electrical fuse bill.
The cleric, identified as Raheem, lived with Olaleye, a 49-year-old painter, on Adebayo Close, Ibafo area of Ogun state until the day of the sad incident.
Both reportedly had a disagreement last Sunday (February 11) over the N60 bill meant for the replacement of a burnt electric fuse.
Olaleye was reportedly appointed to collect a total sum of N600 from all the tenants to replace the fuse.
The disagreement degenerated into fist brawl.
Olaleye would never recover from being hit on the head with a stick by Raheem. His health condition greatly deteriorated and he was pronounced dead after he was rushed to the hospital.
Raheem has since fled the area.
The deceased’s family members were said to have reported the case at the Ibafo Police Station.
“They broke Alfa’s apartment and took some things away. They also locked up the entire house after carrying away three generators. As I speak to you, most of the tenants are squatting with friends and family members. We have nowhere to go,” a resident of the house said.
A senior police officer from the Ibafo division said it was a murder case, adding that it had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
