Iran Says It Will Target Israeli Nuclear Facilities if Provoked

Iran has threatened to strike Israeli nuclear facilities if its own nuclear sites are attacked.

The warning, broadcast through Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, follows claims that Tehran now possesses highly sensitive intelligence detailing Israel’s “hidden nuclear facilities.”

In its Monday statement, Iran said it could “immediately strike” those sites in retaliation to any Israeli aggression.

This comes as Israel continues to float pre-emptive military options, signalling its intent to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons — a goal Tehran denies pursuing.

According to state media, the intelligence windfall was the result of a covert Iranian operation that yielded “strategic and sensitive” Israeli files, including blueprints of nuclear and defense infrastructure. Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib said the cache “would be published soon” and included documents linked to the U.S. and other Western nations.

The exchange marks a new chapter in the decades-long shadow war between the two foes — a conflict often waged in cyberspace and back alleys. But recent months have seen that war turn kinetic, with direct strikes exchanged during the wider Gaza conflict.

In Vienna, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said his agency had received no “official communication” from Iran, but noted the intelligence reportedly involves Israel’s Soreq nuclear facility — a site under IAEA supervision.
