IPOB: Biafra names Fayose “honorary governor”

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has named Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, with the title of honorary governor of Biafra Republic.

“We acknowledge the immense contributions of the honorary Biafran Gov. Ayodele Fayose who did what no south-east or south-south governor had the courage to do,” IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful said in a statement on Sunday.

The development followed Fayose’s open show of support for IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu who was recently granted bail.

IPOB also commended former aviation ministers Osita Chidoka and Femi Fani-Kayode for speaking up for Biafra.

Former CBN governor Chukwuma Soludo, deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu, Pat Utomi, and others also featured in the commendation list.

The Nigerian government treats calls for the creation of Biafra as treason.
