Indian city to set off “no selfie” zones

Following a spate of accidents occurring as people try to take pictures of themselves, Police in the Indian city of Mumbai have identified 15 place where taking selfies “can be dangerous”.
Recently, a young boy fell off a fort while another girl drowned in the sea while trying to take selfies.
According to Mumbai police spokesperson, Dhanajay Kulkarni, the “no selfie zones” include Bandra Brandstand, Sion Fort and Worli Fort, which are all popular with tourists.

“The police will now approach the city’s municipality to prevent accidents at such spots due to people taking selfies. The municipality may deploy life guards and install warning signs,” Kulkarni told the BBC.
The same restriction was placed on selfies during a Hindu festival in 2015 following fears that they could lead to stampedes..
