Identities of 69 Fleeing Kuje Inmates Released by Nigerian Correctional Service

The Nigerian Correctional Service has released the names and photographs of the inmates who escaped from Kuje prison following a terrorist attack on the prison facility.

Attackers suspected to be Boko Haram terrorist had attacked the correction facility on Tueday, July 5 freeing several inmates and setting vehicles within the premise on fire. In a video released by the terrorists on Wednesday where they admitted to carrying out the attack, they were seen chanting Allahu Akbar.

According to Permeant Secretary oof the Ministry of Interior Dr Shuaib M Belgore who visited the prison on Wednesday, July 6, 300 escaped inmates were recaptured out of about 600 that initially fled.

Three of the attackers were killed in the encounter, while several others escaped with bullet wounds.

According to the NCS, 443 of the escapees have been recaptured by Thursday, bringing the total number of inmates in the facility to 551.

President Muhammadu Buhari also visited the premise on Wednesday, where he expressed disappointment over the security intelligence of the premise.
