“I want N30bn from El-Rufai for violating my rights” – Audu Maikoru files lawsuit
A Nigerian lawyer and businessman, Audu Maikori has filed a N10bn lawsuit against the Kaduna state government for violation of his rights.
Maikori had been arrested and detained by the DSS on grounds that he released false information about the Southern Kaduna killings and was “inciting violence”.
The Chocolate City boss later retracted his statements on the killings and apologised after he discovered the information he shared was false.
The state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, had vowed that Maikori would be prosecuted for the offence.
In a lawsuit heard before a judge in Abuja on Tuesday, Maikori prayed the court to enforce his fundamental rights against undue harassment and intimidation by the Kaduna state government, the state governor and the Nigeria police.
