How Hausa community leader saved “Buhari” dog owner from police net

Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, the 30-year-old trader arrested last Saturday for naming his pet dog “Buhari” has been freed.

Joe left the Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta on Tuesday around 5pm after a three-day incarceration in police cell.

Both men live at 10, Omikunle Street, Sango-Ota, Ogun State. The area is dominated by Hausas. Joe is from the Niger Delta.

Joe’s detention was condemned by many Nigerians who urged the police to focus on arresting real criminals.
