House of Reps Mark Speaker’s Birthday on Independence Day
The House of Representatives in Nigeria felicitates with its Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, as he turns 61years today.
Abbas’ birthday coincides with the nation’s October 1st independence day.
The spokesman for the House, Akin Rotimi, in a statement released on Tuesday, had glowing remarks for the lawmaker on his double landmark celebrations
President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, also conferred on Abbas the title of Commander of the Federal Republic.
“Speaker Abbas has consistently demonstrated the qualities of a nation-builder through his humility, accessibility, and extraordinary capacity for consensus-building.
“His leadership has been instrumental in guiding the most politically diverse House in the 4th Republic, bringing about meaningful legislative innovations and ensuring that all voices are represented in the democratic process.
“As the fourth citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Speaker Abbas continues to discharge his duties with great responsibility and vision, championing reforms that advance the interests of all Nigerians.
“His leadership style is inclusive and characterised by a steady hand that fosters unity and cooperation among members of the Assembly.

“His legacy of service continues to inspire not only this Assembly but also the entire nation,” the statement read in part.
The lawmaker chose to celebrate his birthday with the needy in the society.
The move has drawn praise from his fellow Reps even as they thanked President Bola Tinubu for the honours conferred on Abbas.
“True to his character, Speaker Abbas has chosen to mark his birthday by spending time with vulnerable Nigerians in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. This selfless gesture reflects his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the marginalised and his deep sense of responsibility as a servant-leader,” the statement read.
