“He Must Come Out of Hiding”: Oshiomhole Urges Probe of Obaseki’s Tenure

Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo North, has urged Governor Monday Okpebholo to probe the administration of Godwin Obaseki, his predecessor, over alleged financial mismanagement and questionable project execution.

Oshiomhole made the call on Thursday during an event to celebrate the Supreme Court judgment affirming Okpebholo’s election victory. He accused Obaseki of mishandling state resources, particularly in the Radisson Hotel Project.

“Now that the supreme court judgement has been made, Okpebholo now has time to look at that hotel where Edo state money in tens of billions of dollars was taken,” Oshiomhole said.

He questioned the ownership structure of the hotel, suggesting the state had been shortchanged. “And now we are told Edo is a minority shareholder. You now have time to look into that,” he added.

He further challenged Obaseki to face scrutiny over the quality of road projects executed under his administration.

“So by the time Your Excellency now has time for the second rematch, Obaseki will have to come out from hiding to answer those questions. We have come to rescue Edo, but to rescue means you must also investigate,” Oshiomhole declared.

Calling for public accountability, he said: “I now challenge Obaseki to come to Edo; let us work as former governors. Let us all walk on the streets of Benin. Let’s see who did what to affect the life of the people.”
