Gunmen shoot man dead, kidnap daughter in Katsina

One Alhaji Nasiru Maimasara has been killed, and his daughter kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Gachi quarters of Kankia LGA of Katsina State on Tuesday.

NAN confirms from a source that the incident happened around 2a.m on Tuesday. The gunmen were said to have shot sporadically in the air before they attacked Maimasara.

“When the gunmen invaded the area, they started shooting sporadically, while moving to the victims’ residence at Gachi quarters,” the source said.

Maimasara was reportedly shot while trying to escape from the gunmen.

“The bandits shot the victim when he attempted to run, and went away with his daughter, the victim was later taken to Kankia General Hospital where he was confirmed dead,” the source added.

Maimasara has since been buried according to Islamic rites, but the whereabouts of his daughter remains unknown.

Katsina police spokesperson, Gambo Isa, said investigation was ongoing.

“We have deployed personnel from the State Investigation Bureau(SIB), and Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad(FSARS) to track down the culprits,” he said.
