Unknown gunmen, on Thursday morning, shot dead a former local government chairman in Edo.
Suleman Afegbua was reportedly attacked by the gunmen, suspected to be assassins, along the Benin-Auchi expressway.
He was said to be in company of two other persons who were also injured in the attack.
“He was in a convoy going to Benin when he was attacked. He died on the spot while two others were rushed to a hospital and they are responding to treatment,” the Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Nkombe, confirmed.
Afegbua was the immediate past chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area.
