Kidnappers on full rampage in Owo, Ondo state have instilled fear in residents as they went about on a kidnapping spree along Akure/Owo expressway.
The hoodlums reportedly brandished sophisticated AK47 rifles and arrows.
A heavily pregnant doctor and two nurses from the Federal Medical Centre, Owo were abducted.
The gunmen reportedly blocked the expressway, holding all commuters on the road hostage while they carried out the operation. Two lecturers from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic were equally abducted in the attack.
Many unsuspecting motorists who ran into the scene were robbed while several others sustained injuries in their attempts to escape.
The family of one of the abducted Giwa Polytechnic lecturers, Taiwo Akinyemi have informed the police that the kidnappers have reached out to them and have demanded a ransom of N100m before he can be released.
Confirming the incident, Femi Joseph, the Police spokesperson said the police is working on the case to ensure that the abducted persons are safely rescued. He also assured families of the victims that the suspects will be found and apprehended.
