Gombe man apprehended after multiple stabs to aunt
The spate of domestic violence amongst families (nuclear and extended) is currently at an all time high, with the latest involving a nephew and his aunt.
The tragic incident, according to the leader of the patrol team from Pantami Division, Girema Yahaya occurred in Bagadaza Quarters, Gombe State at night when neighbours were asleep.
According to him, “We received a distress call at 2:15 a.m. and immediately responded to the scene. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Specialist Hospital in Gombe”.
Buhari Abdullahi, the state Police Public Relations Officer noted that late Ramota had sustained critical chest injuries from the stabs, which occurred at about 1:35 a.m. on October 21, 2024, which led to her demise.
He further assured that the knife used for the murder has been recovered as evidence and the suspect will be charged to court.
“The suspect, Jonathan James, was arrested at the scene, and the knife used in the crime was recovered as evidence”.
“The police are taking this case very seriously, and the suspect will soon face charges in court for prosecution. We condemn this heinous act and will ensure that the perpetrator faces the full weight of the law”, he emphasized.
