Girl, 2, bleeds to death after reportedly swallowing toy’s battery

Brianna Florer’s parents called paramedics after they saw her vomiting blood and turning blue, December 27 last year.

The two-year-old was put in intensive care but doctors couldn’t save her. They reportedly told her family they believe the battery ate through one of her arteries, as well as her oesophagus.

She died two hours after landing in hospital. It was believed she swallowed the button battery days before starting to bleed from the inside.

“She was always happy and laughing…she was just an angel,” Kent Vice, her grandfather, told Oklahoman newspaper.

“One minute she is perfect, and the next minute she is dead. We had no idea when she swallowed it (the battery).”

Brianna’s parents and sibling are reportedly in shock over her sad and painful death.

A GoFundMe page set up by a family friend to cover her funeral expenses has so far raised almost $4,000 (about N790,000.), The Independent is reporting.
