Chief Timipre Sylva, former governor of Bayelsa State has denied owning the 48 houses alleged by the EFCC to belong to him.

Sylva insists that he owns only three houses in Abuja, despite the EFCC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, insisting that the ex-governor owns the 48 houses, allegedly returned to him by a court’s order.

According to Uwujaren the anti-graft commission is ready to challenge the return of the said houses to Sylva before the Court of Appeal.

The EFCC had traced and sealed off 48 properties allegedly owned by Sylva.

The EFCC had previously arraigned the ex-governor for an alleged N19bn fraud and slammed 50 charges against him but three Federal High Courts had struck out  the case

Sylva, in a statement by his media adviser, Doifie Buokoribo, said the report as ‘strange, speculative and malicious’, saying he did ‘not own 48 buildings in Abuja or anywhere in the world.’
