Five Things To Expect As The Premier League Begins This Weekend

The new football season in England starts this weekend and football fans can’t wait to see their favourite teams in action. After the initial disruption of the football season in March, with all sport put on hold due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the premier league resumed in June with Liverpool going on to lift the premier league trophy for the first time in 30 years.

Since that time, Chelsea has spent over £200 million acquiring some of the best football talents at the moment and will aim to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title this season. Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have also been busy in the market, making significant additions to their teams. The Premier League this season is sure to be as exciting as ever, and as football fans get fired up and ready for the start of the season, here are five things to expect.

Empty Stadiums Till October 1:

Just like the end of last season, the premier league will begin behind closed doors. The stadium will not be open to fans until October 1 and even then, fans will have to strictly adhere to social distancing.

No Winter Break:

There will be no winter break during the 2020-21 season. According to the FA, the winter break was scrapped because of the fixture congestion resulting from the COVID -19 pandemic. EPL teams will be playing games frequently as this season will be five weeks shorter than a standard season because of the late end to 2019-20.

No FA Cup Replays

Yes, there will be no FA cup replays this season. The FA announced that the final is due to be played at Wembley Stadium on May 15, 2021 and that replays have been cancelled to ease the pressure on the football calendar.

All 380 Games Will Be Shown On SuperSport:
