Family mourns as Zainab, wife of Buba Marwa who championed women empowerment, dies at 66

Zainab Marwa, the first wife of Buba Marwa a former military administrator of Lagos, who is now chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has passed away.

She died in the early hours of Saturday, January 8 after a brief illness, a family statement says.

Although Zainab who was from Imo state was not the first lady when her husband was military governor of Lagos from 1996 to 1999, she was active in promoting women empowerment and education of the girl-child.

According to the family statement, Zainab is survived by four children – Abubakar, Mohamed Jr, Mariam and Zainab and an aged mother.
