Fake policeman using dead father’s ID to extort citizens nabbed in Lagos

A fake policeman who engaged in extorting unsuspecting citizens has been nabbed in Lagos.
The 32-year-old suspect, Faith Sunday John, has been using his late father’s uniform and ID card to perpetuate the crime.
John was arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Task Force on Wednesday, while extorting money from some members of the NURTW in Oshodi.
The Akwa Ibom native, who doubles as a commercial bus driver, claimed he was an Inspector attached to the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos.
Investigations revealed that John was using the cardigan belonging to his late father. His father, who died last year in Lagos, was an Assistant Superintendent of Police.
John removed his late father’s passport from the Nigerian Police Force identity card and re-laminated his own passport on it.
He confessed to the crime, saying: “I was working with a security company (King David Security Limited) before my father died last year.
“The owing of several salary arrears by this company prompted me using my late father’s Nigerian Police uniform and identity cards to extort money from Lagosians at night around Oshodi.”
