Ex Gombe NNPP guber candidate defects to PDP
Khamisu Mailantarki, the 2023 governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Gombe State has defected and pledged allegiance to PDP
Mailantarki had resigned from the NNPP and remained without any party affiliation for three months before joining PDP.
During his reception ceremony at the party secretariat, Mailantarki stated that his motive for joining PDP is to ensure that the main opposition party, PDP has a better chance at unseating the All Progressives Congress in the state, come 2027.
He expressed his dismay at how the APC-led government has failed woefully in giving Nigeria and its citizens an upward sense of direction.
“PDP is the only strong party capable of seizing power from the APC, which is the reason for my decision to join it after quitting the NNPP”, emphasized.
Revoking land titles and compelling civil servants to undergo biometric registration every day at their workplaces, failure of which would render them ineligible for salary payment is just a wicked act, Mailantarki lamented.
While chastising Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, he said forcing workers to go to work five times a day during this period of economic hardship without a commensurate salary is putting them in perpetual pain.
The PDP Gombe State chairman, Abner Kwaskebe, when receiving Mailantarki to the party, cited his decision as a bold step and assured him the party is transparent and offers all members a level playing ground.
