“Entrance to Osinbajo’s new house will cost N250 million” – Dino Melaye
While ordinary Nigerians can barely afford humane housing, the federal government is planning to build a multi-million naira Vice President’s residence.
Chairman, Senate Committee of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Dino Melaye, said this in Abuja on Thursday.
Melaye said the gatehouse of the three-bedroom apartment will cost N250 million.
A gatehouse is a building above or beside an entrance gate to a structure often housing a porter or guard. A gatehouse is not the main building. It’s simply it’s fortified entrance.
Melaye said lawmakers could call for a review of the contract awarded for the construction of the official residence of the vice president.
He also said the cost was inflated.
President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo promised to reduce the cost of governance. If Melaye’s gatehouse claims are accurate, many Nigerians will be disappointed at Buhari and his VP.
