Emefiele: N15m cash, soldiers, others on display as police parade CBN governor’s wife’s “kidnappers”

Margaret, wife of Central Bank of Nigeria governor Godwin Emefiele was kidnapped along Benin-Agbor Road on September 29 alongside four others including her police detail.

The kidnappers reportedly demanded N1.5 billion ransom but negotiators were said to have beat that down to N15 million.

Police later arrested nine men suspected to have carried out the crime. Reports say the suspects were found in possession of N15 million cash security agencies may have used to bait them.

Police paraded the suspects on Monday, October 10, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Margret and the others were released some 24 hours after the kidnapping.
