Emefiele dismisses rumours of his sack, confirms tenure will expire in June
The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has dismissed the rumour going round that he has been sacked by President Buhari. He clarified that his tenure which began in June 2014 will expire by June this year.
There were earlier reports that suggested that the CBN boss was mandated to take a long terminal leave by President Muhammadu Buhari, and this spiraled into speculations that Emefiele has been fired.
Others were of the opinion that the terminal leave was expected to last for three months and there was no guarantee that he will be called back.
Emefiele insisted that the claims that he was subtly cast aside were false as he’s very much the apex bank boss and will continue to discharge his duties until his tenure expires in June.
He confirmed that he went on a normal terminal leave and that there was nothing wrong with that.
