“Ember months are NOT blood sucking months” – FRSC

“Ember months are here again and we want to disabuse peoples mind that the months are months of mystery and myths.”

The public relations officer (PRO) of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Mr.Bisi Kazeem, said this in an interview with NAN in Abuja.

There, he said the commission was ready to ensure safety on all Nigerian highways in the ember months.

He further said  that the months were neither dangerous months nor blood-sucking months as believed by some Nigerians but rather, in most of the periods the force witness an increase in traffic.”

Kazeem explained that the prevalent upsurge during the ember months was as a result of overzealousness of people in order to maximise profits.

“You will find that commercial drivers will want to carry more passengers in order to maximise profit and by so doing, they drive dangerously without consideration for other road users,” he said.

“So having observed this development nationwide, what we did first was to embark on public  enlightenment and public education to prevent this ugly development by all our formations.”

Kazeem said the commission had also started rallies and enlightenment campaigns at  various places including motor parks, mosques, churches, companies to enlighten them on road safety during yuletide.

He said all the efforts were geared toward making the nation’s roads safe for the users.
