Egypt Shark Attack Leaves Italian Tourist Dead

An Italian tourist has been killed by a shark off the Red Sea coast of Egypt, Neusroom gather.

Egypt’s environment ministry revealed this in a statement put out on Sunday after the attack.

The Italy foreign ministry were quick to identify the dead tourist as an Italian, while revealing that another who was injured in the attack was also Italian.

“Two foreigners were attacked by a shark in the northern Marsa Alam area, which led to the injury of one and the death of the other,” read the statement by the environment ministry in Egypt.

Both men are believed to have been rushed to a hospital in Port Ghalib in the North of Marsa Alam.

The Ministry went on to note that the incident happened in “deep waters outside the designated swimming area.”

The area has now been shut to swimmers two days after the incident.

Tourists all over the world make it a point of duty to visit the Read sea for its popular marine life.

According to marine experts, this is caused by over-fishing, bad practices of tourists among others.

The last shark attack occurred in June 2023 with a Russian left left dead off the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada.
