EFCC nab 9 ‘Yahoo boys’ driving fancy cars in Abuja
Nine alleged internet fraudsters have landed in EFCC nest in Abuja.
The commission said it received intelligence report that the suspects were “obviously living above their means”.
Edwin Ogbomwan, Okouromi Franklin, Oseji Collins, Collins Onyekwuluje, Anyanechi Ekene, Tony Oviasuyi, Chidi Emeshili, Osaigbovo Aiseos and Osaigbovo Ikponmnosa were all arrested on the last day of November at their residence along Airport Road in the Federal Capital Territory.
“The suspects had turned their residence into a safe haven for fraudulent activities using it as a place of abode and an operational office with computers, laptops, phones, modems, sim cards and so many other tools used to defraud Nigerians and foreigners alike of their hard earned money and valuables,” the anti-graft commission said in a statement.
They had allegedly created different online identities, using names such as Thomas Jerry Star and John Ben.
The suspects who are between 19 and 26 years of age, were arrested with two GLK Mercedes Benz, One Toyota Camry, Lexus Jeep and other valuables worth millions of Naira.
The EFCC said investigations showed they acquired the properties “through proceeds from their fraudulent activities.”
They are currently cooperating with the Commission and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
