DRAMA: Angry Lagosians descend on KAI officials who arrested recharge card seller
It hurts to be left behind. It’s dangerous to be left behind and committed to the mercy of a raging mob.
That was the plight of an official of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) at the Allen Avenue area of Lagos State, on Thursday.
KAI officials had reportedly harassed and beaten up a recharge card seller in the area.
Reports say they forced him into their vehicle and were about driving him off when people in the crowd that had been watching the action unfold decided that would not happen.
They descended on the KAI officials and overpowered them, and beat them up. The officials fled in their vehicles.
One of them did not make the escape. He was given more slaps and punches before other onlookers intervened and begged for his release.
Eyewitnesses said the mob violence was condemnable.
“What the KAI people were trying to do was wrong but we have no right to resort to jungle justice,” a woman at the scene told Newsroom.
